Are the world leaders doing a bad job?
Yes.
But, you’re doing a worse job.
You are to first pray for leaders, before you even pray for the sick or the poor.
1 Timothy 2:1-3
I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men;
For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty.
For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour;
1 Peter 2:17
Honour all men. Love the brotherhood. Fear God. Honour the king.
Ezra 6:10
…and pray for the life of the king, and of his sons.
Ecclesiastes 10:20
Curse not the king, no not in thy thought;
And these are not just leaders that are deemed to be ‘good’, but for all those in authority.
Even though a sinful King Saul was trying to kill David, David would not harm King Saul when he had the chance – as King Saul was God’s anointed leader.
1 Samuel 24:6
And he said unto his men, The LORD forbid that I should do this thing unto my master, the LORD'S anointed, to stretch forth mine hand against him, seeing he is the anointed of the LORD.
When Saul died, David mourned.
2 Samuel 1:17
And David lamented with this lamentation over Saul…
We are to pray for leaders, because when leaders fall, nations fall.
2 Chronicles 28:19
For the LORD brought Judah low because of Ahaz king of Israel; for he made Judah naked, and transgressed sore against the LORD.
1 Kings 14:16
And he shall give Israel up because of the sins of Jeroboam, who did sin, and who made Israel to sin.
1 Kings 15:25-26
And Nadab the son of Jeroboam began to reign over Israel in the second year of Asa king of Judah, and reigned over Israel two years.
And he did evil in the sight of the LORD, and walked in the way of his father, and in his sin wherewith he made Israel to sin.
1 Kings 15:33-34
In the third year of Asa king of Judah began Baasha the son of Ahijah to reign over all Israel in Tirzah, twenty and four years.
And he did evil in the sight of the LORD, and walked in the way of Jeroboam, and in his sin wherewith he made Israel to sin.
And, servants fall as leaders fall.
Proverbs 29:2,4,12
When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice: but when the wicked beareth rule, the people mourn.
…The king by judgment establisheth the land: but he that receiveth bribes overthroweth it.
…If a ruler hearken to lies, all his servants are wicked.
Only the top of the hierarchy (leadership) can change the course of a nation.
2 Chronicles 12:6-7
Whereupon the princes of Israel and the king humbled themselves; and they said, The LORD is righteous.
And when the LORD saw that they humbled themselves, the word of the LORD came to Shemaiah, saying, They have humbled themselves; therefore I will not destroy them, but I will grant them some deliverance; and my wrath shall not be poured out upon Jerusalem by the hand of Shishak.
Jonah 3:4-10
And Jonah began to enter into the city a day's journey, and he cried, and said, Yet forty days, and Nineveh shall be overthrown.
So the people of Nineveh believed God, and proclaimed a fast, and put on sackcloth, from the greatest of them even to the least of them.
For word came unto the king of Nineveh, and he arose from his throne, and he laid his robe from him, and covered him with sackcloth, and sat in ashes.
And he caused it to be proclaimed and published through Nineveh by the decree of the king and his nobles, saying, Let neither man nor beast, herd nor flock, taste any thing: let them not feed, nor drink water:
But let man and beast be covered with sackcloth, and cry mightily unto God: yea, let them turn every one from his evil way, and from the violence that is in their hands.
Who can tell if God will turn and repent, and turn away from his fierce anger, that we perish not?
And God saw their works, that they turned from their evil way; and God repented of the evil, that he had said that he would do unto them; and he did it not.
All authority (even wicked) is from God, and, is to be obeyed to the best of our ability without violating Christianity.
Romans 13:1-2
Let every soul be subject unto the higher powers. For there is no power but of God: the powers that be are ordained of God.
Whosoever therefore resisteth the power, resisteth the ordinance of God: and they that resist shall receive to themselves damnation.
1 Peter 2:13-14
Submit yourselves to every ordinance of man for the Lord's sake: whether it be to the king, as supreme;
Or unto governors…
Titus 3:1
Put them in mind to be subject to principalities and powers, to obey magistrates, to be ready to every good work
Even if you view present rulers as enemies:
Matthew 5:44
But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you;
