Syria is God’s weapon of punishment (as history repeats itself).

Judges 9:23
Then God sent an evil spirit…

God has made a covenant with Israel.

Exodus 24:8
Behold the blood of the covenant, which the Lord hath made with you concerning all these words.

Exodus 19:5-6
Now therefore, if ye will obey my voice indeed, and keep my covenant, then ye shall be a peculiar treasure unto me above all people: for all the earth is mine:
And ye shall be unto me a kingdom of priests, and an holy nation. These are the words which thou shalt speak unto the children of Israel.

Israel repeatedly sinned by breaking the covenant.
God punished Israel with attacking armies from surrounding lands.

Psalm 78:10,37,62-64
   They kept not the covenant of God, and refused to walk in his law;
...For their heart was not right with him, neither were they stedfast in his covenant.
...He gave his people over also unto the sword; and was wroth with his inheritance.
The fire consumed their young men; and their maidens were not given to marriage.
Their priests fell by the sword; and their widows made no lamentation.

Jeremiah 11:10-11
They are turned back to the iniquities of their forefathers, which refused to hear my words; and they went after other gods to serve them: the house of Israel and the house of Judah have broken my covenant which I made with their fathers.
Therefore thus saith the LORD, Behold, I will bring evil upon them, which they shall not be able to escape; and though they shall cry unto me, I will not hearken unto them.

Amos 2:4-6
Thus saith the LORD; For three transgressions of Judah, and for four, I will not turn away the punishment thereof; because they have despised the law of the LORD, and have not kept his commandments, and their lies caused them to err, after the which their fathers have walked:
But I will send a fire upon Judah, and it shall devour the palaces of Jerusalem.
   Thus saith the LORD; For three transgressions of Israel, and for four, I will not turn away the punishment thereof;

Interestingly, Syria reoccurs repeatedly as a choice weapon of God to punish covenant breaking Israel.

2 Kings 13:1-3
...Jehoahaz the son of Jehu began to reign over Israel in Samaria, and reigned seventeen years.
And he did that which was evil in the sight of the LORD, and followed the sins of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, which made Israel to sin; he departed not therefrom.
And the anger of the LORD was kindled against Israel, and he delivered them into the hand of Hazael king of Syria, and into the hand of Benhadad the son of Hazael, all their days.

2 Chronicles 24:22-24
Thus Joash the king remembered not the kindness which Jehoiada his father had done to him, but slew his son. And when he died, he said, The LORD look upon it, and require it.
And it came to pass at the end of the year, that the host of Syria came up against him: and they came to Judah and Jerusalem, and destroyed all the princes of the people from among the people, and sent all the spoil of them unto the king of Damascus.
For the army of the Syrians came with a small company of men, and the LORD delivered a very great host into their hand, because they had forsaken the LORD God of their fathers. So they executed judgment against Joash.

2 Chronicles 28:1-5
Ahaz was twenty years old when he began to reign, and he reigned sixteen years in Jerusalem: but he did not that which was right in the sight of the LORD, like David his father:
For he walked in the ways of the kings of Israel, and made also molten images for Baalim.
Moreover he burnt incense in the valley of the son of Hinnom, and burnt his children in the fire, after the abominations of the heathen whom the LORD had cast out before the children of Israel.
He sacrificed also and burnt incense in the high places, and on the hills, and under every green tree.
Wherefore the LORD his God delivered him into the hand of the king of Syria; and they smote him, and carried away a great multitude of them captives, and brought them to Damascus. And he was also delivered into the hand of the king of Israel, who smote him with a great slaughter.

1 Kings 20:1-3
And Benhadad the king of Syria gathered all his host together: and there were thirty and two kings with him, and horses, and chariots; and he went up and besieged Samaria, and warred against it.
And he sent messengers to Ahab king of Israel into the city, and said unto him, Thus saith Benhadad,
Thy silver and thy gold is mine; thy wives also and thy children, even the goodliest, are mine.

2 Kings 6:8
Then the king of Syria warred against Israel…

2 Kings 12:17
Then Hazael king of Syria went up, and fought against Gath, and took it: and Hazael set his face to go up to Jerusalem.

2 Kings 15:37
In those days the LORD began to send against Judah Rezin the king of Syria, and Pekah the son of Remaliah.

2 Kings 16:6
At that time Rezin king of Syria recovered Elath to Syria, and drave the Jews from Elath: and the Syrians came to Elath, and dwelt there unto this day.

Isaiah 9:12
The Syrians before, and the Philistines behind; and they shall devour Israel with open mouth.

Punishment, via invaders, includes rape of Israel’s women.

Lamentations 5:11
They ravished the women in Zion, and the maids in the cities of Judah.

Zechariah 14:2
For I will gather all nations against Jerusalem to battle; and the city shall be taken, and the houses rifled, and the women ravished; and half of the city shall go forth into captivity, and the residue of the people shall not be cut off from the city.

Punishment also includes Muslim attackers' removal of women's noses and ears.

Ezekiel 23:25
   And I will set my jealousy against thee, and they shall deal furiously with thee: they shall take away thy nose and thine ears;

Christian nations have a New Covenant (Testament) with God through Christ, a better covenant.

Romans 11:27
For this is my covenant unto them, when I shall take away their sins.

Hebrews 12:24
And to Jesus the mediator of the new covenant…

Hebrews 8:6
…he is the mediator of a better covenant, which was established upon better promises.

By breaking the New Covenant, a better covenant, Syria reemerges as God’s weapon to punish covenant breakers.

Even the mainstream media now reports on Syrian migrants imposing Sharia law and ‘ravishing’ women.

Revelation 9:14-15
…Loose the four angels which are bound in the great river Euphrates.
And the four angels were loosed, which were prepared for an hour, and a day, and a month, and a year, for to slay the third part of men.

Psalm 81:13-14
Oh that my people had hearkened unto me, and Israel had walked in my ways!
I should soon have subdued their enemies, and turned my hand against their adversaries.

Repentance is a decision to change your mind (from living to please yourself to living to please Christ).  You turn around from moving away from God to moving towards God, as he directs you.

Israel remembered the commandments of the Old Covenant, and repented.

Judges 10:15-16
And the children of Israel said unto the LORD, We have sinned: do thou unto us whatsoever seemeth good unto thee; deliver us only, we pray thee, this day.
And they put away the strange gods from among them, and served the LORD

1 Kings 8:57-58
The LORD our God be with us, as he was with our fathers: let him not leave us, nor forsake us:
That he may incline our hearts unto him, to walk in all his ways, and to keep his commandments, and his statutes, and his judgments, which he commanded our fathers.

God calls Christian nations to repentance.

Luke 24:47
And that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name among all nations, beginning at Jerusalem.

Matthew 3:2
And saying, Repent ye: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.

Luke 13:5
I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish.

Acts 2:38
Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.

Psalm 33:12
Blessed is the nation whose God is the LORD; and the people whom he hath chosen for his own inheritance.
